Do I need a referral to see a Gastroenterologist
To have your appointment covered by Medicare referral must be completed by either:
- Your GP within 12 months
- A Specialist within 3 months
What should I bring to my appointment?
- Referral and health summary from your GP or referring doctor
- Medicare or Veterans’ Affairs card
- Health fund membership card
- X-rays, scans and previous operation/endoscopy reports
- Medication list
What do I need to do before my colonoscopy?
You will need to follow the bowel preparation instructions as requested by Dr, Prudence. Pending on your procedure time, and type of prep (Plenvu or Moviprep, instructions will vary slightly. A copy of prep instructions can be found below
Where is my procedure and/or appointment
Currently private consults occur at
- Barringa Private Hospital, located on Mackays Road, Coffs Harbour, NSW 2450
Private procedures are performed at
- Ramsay Surgical Centre located 69 Albany Street, Coffs Harbour NSW 2450
Can I drive after my procedure
You cannot drive for 24 hours following your procedure, due to the use of anesthetic. You will need to arrange collection from the hospital and it is recommended someone stay with you overnight.
What if I need a procedure not available in Coffs Harbour
Dr Prudence has a range of contacts in Northern NSW, Sydney and Queensland that he will be happy to refer to and ensure you get the care required.
