Dr Alexander Prudence
MBBS; BSc.(Advanced) (Hons) FRACP
Dr. Prudence is a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist based in Coffs Harbour with expertise in diagnosing and managing a wide range of digestive disorders including:
- Reflux/GORD and IBS
- Iron Deficiency
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Liver disease
Dr Prudence holds a public appointment at Coffs Harbour Hospital and works privately through Baringa Private Hospital. He is proficient in performing a range of diagnostic and interventional procedures including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and capsule endoscopy.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Prudence is actively engaged in cutting-edge research, contributing to advancements in gastroenterology and hepatology.
He has a particular interest in the management of hepatocellular carcinoma, and a strong focus on the early detection, linkage to care, and intervention strategies for viral hepatitis and alcohol & metabolic-associated liver disease.
His dedication to advancing knowledge in these fields is reflected in his active involvement in research, with his findings being published in multiple journals and presented at prestigious international conferences, including the annual meetings of the AASLD, EASL, and AGW.
As a passionate researcher and educator, Dr Prudence serves as a faculty member at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), where he mentors, provides research opportunities and trains the next generation of medical professionals.
Outside of work, Dr Prudence enjoys spending time with his family and is a keen fisherman when time allows.
